Aledo Community Unit School District #201 has three attendance centers: Apollo Elementary School, Aledo Jr. High School, and Aledo High School. All three schools are located in Aledo, IL, which is the county seat of Mercer County. Aledo (approximate population of 3,000) is situated on the far western side of the state, approximately 30 miles southeast of Muscatine, IA. Thirty-five miles north of Aledo is the Quad Cities Area: Moline and Rock Island in Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa. Mercer County consists of small towns in this wide-spread farming community. Some of the residents are employed in the Quad Cities and Muscatine in manufacturing and construction industries.
Information about the three schools is shown in each of the state generated report cards. A link to this site is provided. It is the philosophy of the Board of Education and the staff that students should be given a variety of learning experiences. Consequently, students are not "tracked" into traditional vocational or college bound classes but instead are encouraged to take classes that not only meet the requirements for graduation but also interest them.
